blogging conduct....

this post is mainly directed to anyone who has their own blog that they manage - or i guess if you read a ton of blogs, it may apply to you as well...

blogging conduct: is there such a thing?

i entered the blogging world around 2 1/2 years ago - shortly before moving down here to mexico. when i first started i had no idea what i was doing -- i didn't even know what a "post" was... haha

however, in the last couple years i have come to love blogging, and i tend to read quite a few as well.

my question is this: when you find something that another fellow blogger does/has that you like, do you incorporate that 'thing' into your blog as well? say for instance, they have a little tweak about their blog - ummm... say they have some type of a gadget that's unique, and not found on many other blogs... and you like it. it's kind of like their stamp, or seal -- something they're known for. do you go get the same thing and put it on your blog?

i'm in a bind, and i want opinions. i want my blog to be original. i don't want someone else to have a blog similar to mine - i want it to be individual to my likes and my wants. so with that being said, i don't know that i really want someone else 'borrowing' my ideas per say, but i don't have that many great ones anyway. actually, it almost might be compliment to see someone following in my steps in the blogging world.

HOWEVER....

i do not feel like i'm that creative of a person when it comes to blogging. i do like to blog 'shop,' if you will, and find ideas from others. now honestly, i don't think i've really snitched many ideas, although i look. and it's because of this predicament i'm in. i've eyed several - and thought "oh i love that - i wanna do that on my blog!" but i can't really quite bring myself to copy them... although it's mostly from the 'famous bloggers' that i find these ideas, and i know they don't know me from eve, i doubt it really matters to them since the same people who read their blog most likely won't be reading an amateur like me. :-]

so what do you guys do? do you copy? do you copy it and then add your own twist on it to make it 'yours'? is there such a thing as blogging conduct? would you never in a million years 'borrow' an idea from someone's blog?
