the power of a child's prayer...

on last tuesday i took these little tykes to the store with me.

i called up the casa rota [click there to go to their household blog...] and asked her if she wanted to send any of the kiddos from the house to the store, assuming she would send the girls.
well lo' and behold up come leob and jorge! it was seriously the cutest thing ever! jorge is... well timid is a good word. he doesn't like new experiences so i thought for sure it would be an adventure. he typically cries when he gets overwhelmed, but i thought, hey, we'll give it a whirl and see what happens. he did GREAT! he thought the grocery store was seriously the coolest thing ever. i was so thankful things went over smoothly. :-]

then on friday i checked in at the casa rota to see if they wanted to send the girls this time. [in case you haven't figured it out, i go to the grocery store 2 days a week on average - sometimes 3 if it's an emergency.] they of course obliged and off i went with these two little girls:

keyla
 and perla

we had to make a pit stop at my house before going to the store. while we were driving we were singing i was singing while the girls mumbled - some songs. in between songs there was a long silence. all the sudden i heard a small little voice from the back ask me this:

"¿Rocky, cómo está tú mamá?"
translation: Rocky, how is your mom doing?

and as i was turning onto my street it took everything in me to not break down and cry my eyes out. did our little 4 year old perla just seriously ask me that? keyla was quick to jump in right after and agree, wanting to know how she was.

i responded in a shaky voice that she is still really sick and needs a lot of prayers.

to which perla responded:
"Yo oro por ella cáda día.  Y cuando la olvido, oro por ella en mi cama."
translation: I pray for her everyday.  And when i forget to, I pray for her in my bed.

to which i again had to use everything in me to hold back my tears.

oh how i love these children that God has chosen to bless us with. how on earth does a 4 year old comprehend that my mom is sick and needs prayers daily? how does she understand that? i have no idea.

i was also informed by one of our staff members last week that her kids, on their own - as in, without being prompted, pray for mom every day. and if when someone is praying, happens to forget to pray for mom, the other 2 kids are quick to remind them that need to pray for Rocky's mom.

talk about being humbled and thankful. those are about the only 2 words that come to mind.

Matthew 19:14
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

Mark 10:14
He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

Luke 18:16
But Jesus called the children to him and said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.

i know there are a lot of you out there praying for her too.

thank you.
